Strep????

For the past 3-4 weeks, Anya has had some major setbacks in her potty training- she's always had little "drips" here and there, but rarely a full-on accident until close to a month ago. We've just been dealing with it since it seemed to be behavioral- preschool ending, kindergarten coming, new baby, etc. Finally, I took her in to the ped to rule out a UTI, but I didn't expect much since she had ZERO other symptoms. So we left the urine sample and during the exam, the doc noticed that her throat was red. It turns out that strep can also cause urinary frequency, so she did a rapid strep test and it did show a faint positive. After several TTC attempts and many "slight positive" HPT's, I've learned that positive is positive and sure enough the culture came in today and confirmed that test. I feel badly that she's been running around for several weeks with strep throat, but she never once complained of a sore throat (still hasn't), but I'm definitely hoping that that's the cause of her accidents and the abx will end it.

The other new thing for Anya is Fancy Nancy. George found this series of books and realized that it would be a huge hit with Anya. It's about a little girl who just LOVES dressing up "fancy". Anya has taken a strong likeing to this book and now only wants to dress fancy. This became a problem this morning when an accident ruined the (believe it or not) un-fancy outfit she had donned without a fight. Now she wanted a fancy top, pants, and shoes. Now she was reduced to woeful tears that she didn't have fancy pants. It was a bit of a change since these weren't angry/fighting tears but sad ones, but she still had to deal with it. As a result, she rode in the van to Nana's house in her underwear only, but she did make it through the day wearing "plain" jeans with her fancy top and shoes!

Tomorrow is her graduation and she's so excited. We went to the mall today to find her a dress and shoes and she's so thrilled to dress up tomorrow. I was amazed that we manged to make it through the mall (George was able to meet us there) without any meltdowns AND we accomplished our goals (maternity clothes for mommy, who has already outgrown the clothes she already has- ugh).

Oh, Maddie LOVES Fancy Nancy -- it's her favorite series, too! I have to admit it's also one of my favorites to read... Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy is one of the most read books in our house, LOL. Sorry to hear about the strep - I never would have known that was a symptom, either!
